First Session

Here is the first session of the podcast.  More to come pretty shortly.  For anyone just showing up and wondering why the release schedule is so slow, we were waiting on approval from iTunes before moving forward.  We will be testing the connections and everything over this coming weekend, and the rest of the first session will find its way online by the end of next week.

Also, as an apology, this is an awful starting representation.  The players were just introduced to new characters a somewhat new world and the podcast all at once, so if the session starts a little slow and uncomfortable, it is.  It will catch up with a quickness though, and at the very least there is plenty of levity to hold it up.

Introductions

Hello all and welcome to The Corvis Tribune. This blog is the place where a couple of us from Bodged Together will be posting our thoughts on a number of things we're interested in, especially regarding our thrice weekly podcast. The podcast will be covering our 4th Edition game of The Witchfire Trilogy written in the beginning of the last decade for 3rd edition by Privateer Press.
PJ will be the primary writer for this blog (despite my early posting), but you will see me popping up now and then to discuss some of my DMing decisions, some of the group's decisions on the conversion website, and occasionally maybe for things that aren't so self-centered. I will also be showing up to post a link to the actual podcasts, and responding to comments made to blog posts.
Speaking of which, this first post is supposed to say something other than "Hi, my name is DM", as I would like to jump headlong into a discussion of the podcast. Before anyone listens to our group gallivanting around the city of Corvis know that this is the first effort we have made toward this kind of recording. I am afraid the first session may be a little tainted by the influence of its public nature, but that effect should begin to settle out as the weeks go on.
In addition I want to sort of introduce you guys to the players.
  • PJ is the other person who will be posting up on this blog, and has been a friend of mine for years. He has been playing D&D since middle school, and I don't think a year has gone by since he was involved in a game in that time. You should recognize his voice pretty clearly as the most confident and forward roleplayer, and likely as the person who is moving the plot along.
  • My wife, Katie, should be pretty easy to pick out of the pack (y'know, as the only lady). She's been playing D&D almost every sunday since we have been together, and definitely prefers Savage Worlds to 4th edition, which I suppose will make her opinion popular to a lot of our listeners. Listen for her to make a lot of in-character decisions without worrying about whether they are popular or not, something I consider both good and rare in a roleplayer.
  • My uncle, Brent, has been playing D&D for a great deal of time indeed. I'm pretty sure I was at least three or four when he started playing, but I can mostly blame him for the Iron Kingdoms obsession. He's been rocking it in D&D since the end of 1st Edition, and was the most difficult convert to 4th Edition. He should be easy to pick out since he is the only player who has opted to pick a different voice from his own for character speech, and for a singular focus on keeping true to his character's back story.
  • Finally PJ's brother, Gregg. Gregg has played the least D&D and it may show at times in his roleplaying. However, I think he has a true drive to only get better at this game, and he has put some time into his character. Gregg's relatively new perspective actually may serve as an effective means of explaining the 4th Edition mechanics that go into the game during the podcast, which should be nice.
All right, that's enough yapping on in this first post, you should see the first post of the podcast by the end of the day!
